On March 24, 2016, Joseph Benavidez sought a restraining order against his brother, Alex Benavidez, after his PTSD become too violent to continue living with him. Then on April 26, 2017, Alex's body was discovered after an apparent suicide. The 60+ pages of Case W-467 catalogs the writer's emotional journey of seeking a restraining and the aftermath of coming to terms with his brother's death including poems about being in the courthouse, writing an obituary and the frustration from hearing friends' unwanted advice. Unique to Case W-467, the collection also includes edited transcripts of Alex's outbursts recorded on Joseph's cell phone and a full transcript of the trial.
