A: Seamonkey (Untold Remix) B: Seamonkey (Surgeon Remix) Since the hit track "Rusty Nails" was crying out loud for a separate release, Moderat dared to use one of the more abstract tracks of their exceptional album for the second 12”. the LP version of "Seamonkey" is a rather dismal track, the really danceable part is a long time coming. A: Exactly the right place for the “Untold Remix”. The first notes already make it clear that it will depart from the norm. And it is no joke! Just a moment later, the track suggests a cheeky hook – one that initially advertises itself as the intro to an old school, bangin' track, and then switches up without warning to an awesome breakbeat hit with an overdriven monster kick. And, it remains grim: fragments of stress, noise and melody saturates the auditory nerves, legs are forced into ecstatic movements – continue to the flipside... B: Things straighten out with the “Surgeon Remix”, but no one said anything about relaxing. The straight, bouncing beat pierces through the landscape, enriched with idiosyncratic metal percussion. The claustrophobic spaces and dark melodic fragments of the album version seem closer and closer- but is it closer to the original track, or that the walls are closing in?
