I myself was one of those eager young people, ready to go fight for our country, willing to accept that my life was a number, disposable on the cheap, and not to question. But when the war was over my reflections centered more on the waste of humanity than on the glory. On my second experience of war, in Korea, I was not as gung ho. I had seen the horror of war.
