Emmiline finds a unique solution for avoiding the trials and sufferings of her hyper-religious, impoverished, huge family. She decides at age 7 that she will spend her life saving others and that the most efficient means to arrive at her goal will be to join a Convent at 13 to escape from sin and its inevitable outcomes. Her knowedge about such a life is non-existent. What she learns while there is that this tortuous, punitive existence just might drive her mad.
