After a new Civil War and, on its heels, the collapse of the environment, the US descends into violence, depravity and anarchy. Morning Glory Wilson, Moonflower, is a young orphan struggling to survive on the margins in this dark world. She and a band of survivors fight to live amidst the carnage and in doing that discover technology, friends, and wells of strength and power that allow them to do that and to expand beyond the planet Earth.
