The Circle of Always Becoming
James Argos
The Circle of Always Becoming is set twelve hundred years in the future on a planet forty light years from earth and without the natural resources to sustain a highly technological society. Here, without their knowledge or permission, 400 colonists become the subject of a sociological experiment to see if it is possible for man to live forever in Paradise, or if -due to his flawed nature-he is doomed to live in exile. The Circle of Always Becoming is two stories in one. The first is the hero's journey of a man who defies societal norms, and overcomes great physical hardships in order to obtain a saving boon for his people. The second story is a spiritual adventure. After becoming aware that everything he ever believed is a lie, the hero-using dreams and visions in the manner of Carl Jung-struggles to find purpose and meaning, and reconnect with God. Ultimately the hero must face the question: in his quest to save his people has he become their savior or the source of their expulsion from Paradise?
