TRAVEL AND DISCOVERY

Day-by-Day and Heart-to-Heart shares one woman's serendipitous opportunities and incredible experiences in the mid-1960s while living in Japan and working as an English teacher and broadcast journalist for NHK and for U. S. educational radio stations. Then she traveled solo from Japan through Asia and Europe on a one-year journey the long way home. And all that was before the Internet, computers, cell phones and other conveniences of globe-trotting!

Wendy Phillips Lazar's lifelong love of travel and discovery is evident in the way she writes her letters home and her radio broadcasts of human connections and reconnections, rituals and festivals, spontaneity and hospitality, triumphs and transformations, intrigue and the forces of history.

Most of all, it's about appreciating human creation and aspiration and about being a citizen of the world, approaching unfamiliar cultures and people with curiosity, respect, and an open heart.
