We planned a trip out west-but wondered how to go Decided on a train ride-and proceeded to make it so Made the reservations-we left early in the day Traveled west across the nation-sightseeing along the way The mountains and the valleys-the rivers winding through With flowers, trees, and animals-all adding to the view In the diner and the club car-we really had a ball The train ride was magnificent-fun for one and all Since the early 1970s, author Fred Strelow and his wife, Gloria, have traveled across the United States and abroad. They have been through all of the lower forty-eight states and like to claim that they were once in four states at the same time. The Four Corners is the only place in the United States where four states intersect at a common point. At this point, it is possible to touch four different states-Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah-at the same time. My Journey through Life Expressed in Poetry recounts the Strelows' cherished traveling experiences as depicted through poetry. Each poem has an introductory story that explains the inspiration behind it. The poems are also supplemented with maps and pictures.
