When Jeremiah meets Sara, he feels as if he has found the woman of his dreams. As Jeremiah tries to deal with his new life of vampires and myth, he learns that his best friend Stephen is a member of a bloodline of vampire hunters whose sole duty it is to kill his kind. He faces betrayal, set-backs and torture, especially in obtaining the Bloodstone. Nothing comes easy for Jeremiah as he tries to uncover the mysteries of his new life and give a "new breed" of vampire a good name; neither of which, he learns, is a very easy task.
