When? Who? Why?
See the world through the single eye of an American hero, charged with a directive for 'Peace on Earth'. An eye more intuitive, thoughtful, and passionate than most.
Follow Admiral Julian Stansfield as he leads the United States Navy in a titanic struggle to preserve freedom. Detailed descriptions allow you to live through the air, land, and sea battles around the globe. 82 days decide the fate of the twenty-first century.
Debilitated by illness, our hero thinks back on his life and family, and his love for Olivia.
As the story unfolds, the concept of 'American Amaranth' comes home to the reader. Honor and courage, duty, faith, and justice are shown to be the virtues necessary for a rightful peace. Above all, the promise of love is revealed for what it is - the central force and essence of mankind in the cosmos.
What is an amaranth?
The red globe amaranth is a vivid red flower which mysteriously retains its color long after it's cut - months and even years. In Ancient Greek mythology, it was the flower of the gods on Mt. Olympus, symbolizing all things worthy of eternal life (ie. great virtues and deeds).
The amaranth were made into garlands and wreaths to adorn the heads of victorious Greek generals and heroes on their return from battle.
The amaranth flowers were placed on the graves of fallen Greek warriors to honor them into the eternal afterlife.
Poets and writers over the past 200 years have used the amaranth to depict and describe "everlasting" love between a man and a woman. It is a lofty symbol for a lofty emotion.
In AA, the flower is used by Olivia and Julian Stansfield as a conceptual emblem to describe their love for each other, for their children, and for their country.
