EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT! On the eve of the 50th anniversary of its founding, the affluent suburban town of Chelmsford Heights oozes civic pride. But inside its ornamental gates, all is not as enviable as the town's citizens would like. Members of the Women's Alliance for Upscale Lifestyle, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness, in particular, are not amused by recent events. - A lawyer has filed a lawsuit against Chelmsford Heights, alleging that its Chief of Police wrongfully arrested his client for shoplifting from Chelmsford Heights Mall. Liability could amount to tens of millions of dollars, and imperil various features of the town's civic lifestyle, including erection of gates at all its entrances. - An embittered former resident, and former wife of the mall's owner, who now owns a rundown cemetery in the adjoining town of Fiddler's Green, makes life and lifestyle difficult for Chelmsford Heightsters seeking to reclaim remains of their departed loved ones residing six-feet-under the weedy lawn of her property. Some bereaved survivors plot desperate measures. - The Mall, a veritable "Temple" reflecting the town's most deeply held values ---- and virtually its only source of tax revenues ---- is still upscale after fifty years in operation, but now in need of a refreshed "lifestyle" merchandising component. Unfortunately, however, no land for such a complementary addition is now legally available. And if all that were not bad enough for one novel, a Special 50th Anniversary edition of the local Weekly Weekender is threatened by theft of the newspaper's historical archives. A young female reporter assigned to the story must therefor reconstruct twenty-odd years of coverage, possibly at great personal danger. Who stole the newspaper records, and why? Extra! Extra! Read all about it, in this latest of tales about this and that, and a girl named Henryetta, by Simon Plaster.
