The Trilogy is beyond Good and Evil: JML is a world where rebellion brings discovery, growth and understanding-and frustration, anger, confusion and chaos, but Life is like that. JML is a world where the Good became stale and lifeless - and evil itself. 
JML is a world where Life forces choices and brings knowledge beyond good and evil.  It is a world that embraces the challenges of Life as steps to knowledge-on a ladder that has no end.  This is a world far outside our daily battles between true believers, devout believers, doubtful agnostics and confident atheists-battles of social babble, just words. 
The Tree of Life in JML an aggressive Tree-and in the end, The Tree of Life elected for Jericho. 
"[21] And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword."
Or, at least those who did not accept the Tree. 

The Trilogy is a world where Good and Evil grow and change as Life changes and our understanding deepens. Children's stories with bright backgrounds and clear truths must yield, as we age, to the complexity of the world around us. As all stories are at best partial truths and all statements are more or less  false: How, then, to act and choose in a world this complex? 
Do you dare climb to the edge to stare deeply into the abyss? 
Hal stood at the edge, looking into the roiling darkness below. "When the abyss stares into you, what does it see?" 
"It sees what you can be," Grendeline answered. "That is why you fear the abyss."
