George Somerset is the unhappiest man in paradise. The horrors of the Tribulation are over. Finally reunited with his raptured daughter, he has been handed the keys to the magnificent splendor of God's kingdom. Yet, George prefers to sulk, denying his own salvation and rehashing his past failings until he pushes himself, literally, into the depths of hell.

This is the story of George's past and present, of his sins and quest for redemption--a journey of self discovery through God's creation, from the mind of a troubled soul searching for answers: Why am I here? Where did I come from? How old is the universe? How was it created? Who or what are the Illuminati? What about demons, ghosts, and aliens? What is the nature of God? Why is there a hell? Why does Satan even exist? How did I end up in paradise instead of the pit?
 
This would be the ultimate journey for most, a virtuous and wondrous trip through space and time to answer the big questions and experience the glory of heaven and Earth. But through the eyes of the often irreverent and confused Somerset, it is a sad, horrific, and satirical misadventure, a black comedy for Christians and nonbelievers alike.
 
Two stories collide as George, the confused anti-hero recounts his troubled life on the "Old Earth", as well as his experiences in the earthly heaven God has established for a thousand years:
 
The disappearance in mass of believers in the event known as the Rapture begins George's awakening on the Old Earth as he is forced to confront his failed life and fight for his survival.  Escaping the Antichrist, the Mark of the Beast, and other horrors of the Tribulation.
 
Meanwhile, in paradise, George spends his days at the "Hall of Knowledge", a vast library containing all the wisdom and history of the ages, looking up the things that puzzled him about life, religion and God.  Who killed JFK?  What happened to Jimmy Hoffa?  What about Bigfoot, Aliens, and ghosts?  Why am I here?  Where did I come from?  What is love?  What is the nature of God?  Why is there a hell?  Who is the Antichrist? Why does Satan even exist?  Why me?  Why did I end up in paradise instead of the pit?  All these questions are answered, but not in the way George or any other Christian (reluctant or not) might expect. 
     
What the Hand , a novel, is written in a manner that has never before been available to religious or secular readers.  It is the first and only black comedy based on Christian End Times Prophecy, and I use the term Christian loosely.
