Luna's leaves her house each morning and her voice remains at home. She arrives at school unable to speak to anyone. Her peers ask her why she doesn't talk but Luna doesn't understand why. She concludes that her mysterious condition is just something she has to accept. Feeling down about her plight Luna pauses to reflect on her way home from school one day.

Resting in the shade, she observes some cows on a nearby dairy farm. Luna considers the cows to have a simple, uncomplicated life. But then she witnesses something that challenges her assumption. Luna is confronted as she watches in horror the unpleasant treatment of dairy cows. She watches on as the dairy farmer drags a calf away from a distressed mother cow. Distraught, she returns home to inform her mother of the scene she has just witnessed.

Luna's mother offers comfort and a simple explanation of how the dairy industry operates but Luna is not satisfied. She launches into a quest to find a solution, contribute to change. Determined to help the cows, relieve them of their milking duties, she arrives at a logical alternative.

Determined to be a voice for the voiceless cows, Luna eventually finds the courage to speak up and spread the word about dairy and it's treatment of cows. She becomes an unofficial ambassador for plant based milks and pioneers a paradigm shift within her small community that sees a transition to a kinder way of living.
