My life turned upside down when Uncle Fred showed up at our door one bright spring day. "Heard you needed someone to take care of Mike for a couple of weeks?" He told my parents. It was only supposed to be for two weeks, but by the end of the first week I wanted to spend the rest of the summer with Uncle Fred. Sure, he lured me there on a pretext, but he got more than he expected when Julie became part of my life. Our mothers would have really been upset to hear that we'd spent two days alone in the wilds of war torn Normandy back in 1946; without a chaperone! And then there was Bozo the cat. He was always under foot when I was thinking about the cottage; I began to wonder if I was being manipulated by that large gray cat with the golden eyes. By the end of the summer I would learn much more about Uncle Fred and Camilla, his wife from the past; both of them.
