Publisher Marketing: Caroline: I'm happy with my boyfriend, Trent. He's handsome, popular, a football player. Sometimes I wonder how a plain girl like me got so lucky I ended up with a guy like him. So why can't I stop dreaming about his stepbrother Max? Not only is he a former dropout and runaway, he's weird -- an occultist, if you can believe it. And Trent says he murdered someone once, when he was just a kid. He's the kind of guy I should stay far away from, not someone I should secretly admire. Want. Need. But Max understands me in ways Trent never could. He believes me when I tell him a ghost is haunting me, and he's willing to help me do something about it. And when he touches me, when we kiss, I forget there was ever another guy in my life. Max: I don't know how a sweet girl like Caroline ended up with a prick like my stepbrother Trent. His favorite hobby when we were kids was torturing me. Unfortunately for him, I grew up to be even bigger and tougher than he is. And now I want his girlfriend. If I were a good guy, I'd leave her alone. If I were a good guy, I wouldn't use Caroline, seduce her, just to get back at Trent. But I'm not a good guy. I'll do whatever I have to do to get revenge on that bastard of a stepbrother of mine, use whatever tools I have at my disposal, including magic and lies and illusion. Problem is, I want Caro for so much more than revenge. The closer I get to her, the more I share her problems, the more I want her for always instead of for payback. But I've ruined any chance to have her love, especially once she discovers why I'm with her. Contributor Bio:  Minard, Tori Tori Minard wrote her first story in pencil, sans paragraph breaks and quotation marks, for a third-grade class assignment. It was the dark and moving tale of a Halloween pumpkin. Unfortunately, the details of this gem have been lost to time. Her next story featured a large black dog who was really a demon in disguise. Apparently, Tori was born in paranormal mode. Three years later, it dawned on her that she didn't have to wait for the teacher's permission to write fiction. She spent the entirety of her peculiar adolescence writing weird and romantic stories which embarrassed her parents and got her in trouble at school. Unfortunately for her ego, the teachers merely thought she was writing letters to friends. Letters to friends! C'mon, this is dark, creative proto-Goth girl. Why would she write letters to friends when she could bring forth post-apocalyptic romances instead? After a long detour for such grown-up pursuits as working boring full-time jobs (State of Alaska, U. S. Postal Service), getting married and having a child, she returned to her first love-storytelling. She was born and raised in Alaska, and now lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, son, and micro-dog. Her novels include The Amaki series, about sexy fae, and a vampire series that includes both pre- and post-apocalyptic romance.
