Contributor Bio:  Johnson, Vernon Elso Vernon Johnson (1921-2010) returned from WWII, having been in five battles in the ETO and eventually received his Ph. D. from Peabody College, now part of Vanderbilt University. He had careers as an actor, stage director, and college professor. He authored numerous commentaries on Shakespearean productions and sources, wrote "A Private's Memoir of WWII," edited five books on Shakespeare, and co-authored four books on a range of subjects.
