Suddeth promoting the area's heavily forested, game-rich peninsula. The surrounding waters teemed with snapper, flounder, crabs, and shrimp, supporting locals and drawing tourists, including actor Clark Gable. Amidst changing times, the neighborhood has survived and continues to thrive.
