Dave Macklyns discovery of a cave in the mountains north of Los Angeles turned out to be an abandoned space outpost from the planet Arbaron. Its entrance, sealed by a landslide for many hundreds or thousands of years, has hidden a treasure of golden cylinders, highly evolved equipment and an actual Spacecraft. Activating one of the data devices, Dave learned about the life of the young Cadet Raynos that had journeyed here so long ago, and about the people that had searched across the vast heavens for a safe haven. He also learned there were secrets and dangers hidden within the cave. Dave took a full cylinder back to the plant and proceeded to blow the end of a building away when he removed the end plug. The pounding of the cylinder as it was driven a hundred feet into the earth and the roaring flame that melted steel beams as it shot hundreds of feet into the air could be felt and seen for miles around. Federal agents and Air Force personal were sent to investigate the cause of such a powerful force. Having learned from equipment in the cave that the elements in the cylinders could be turned into a weapon so powerful it could, in fact, destroy the world. Dave refused to divulge the location of the cave until the agents would agree to destroy the cylinders. The agents demanded full disclosure immediately and would make no agreement as to what would be done with the cylinders. When he refused, they proceeded to bug his house and tailed him and Stacy everywhere they went. This led to several wild chases and some angry confrontations before they finally agreed to keep the location secret. Once he escorted the agents inside the cave, they betrayed his trust and forced Dave to make the ultimate and final decision about his discovery.
