Juang, and Shannon Price Minter have edited a complex, coherent, and necessary collection of articles that navigates these questions with great agility. Bringing together a group of highly respected and well-known lawyers, academics, and advocates who work within transgender communities, the collection serves as a snapshot in time of the analysis offered by a movement's leaders on that movement's future." --"Law and Policy Book Review"Review Quotes: ""Transgender Rights" is a magisterial collection of essays covering cutting-edge legal developments, movement histories, and political theory, written by some of the most celebrated names in both trans activism and scholarship. In addition to the three editors--all national figures in the transgender movement--contributors include some of the leading lights in gay and lesbian legal scholarship, such as Kendall Thomas and Ruthann Robson. The collection even includes an essay by Judtih Butler, whose pioneering work using the practices of drag to understand gendering makes her both celebrated and controversial. The essays are all relatively short and accessible to a wide audience, yet they are also uniformly theoretically challenging and conceptually rich, suggesting heroic labor on the part of the editors. This is an indispensable collection." --"Women's Studies Quarterly"Publisher Marketing: With analysis from legal and policy experts, activists and advocates, 'Transgender Rights' assesses the movement's achievements, challenges, and opportunities for future action. This book is an indispensable resource in the fight for the freedom and equality of those who cross gender boundaries. Review Citations:
