Red Book and Cotton / Journey to True-Freedom is the biographical tale of Nimrod, the author's great-great grandfather, an African American slave who experienced freedom through The Emancipation Proclamation. Nimrod shares his experiences about being a slave, a narrative that's not solely about black-slaves and white-masters. It's more of an examination of the effects of slavery on black's and white's during slavery and the after- effects it would have on their progeny. A look at slavery from a spiritual perspective. His is a story fraught with pain, sorrow, and disappointment and yet beauty, richness, and depth. The reader's mind and soul are captured as it travels the paths of this man's life journey. From childhood pains and dreams through adult life of uncontrollable anger resulting from unbearable personal losses. His saving-grace was, a blue-black ghostly nymph-like figure who lead him to the realization that all Americans, black and white, were living in "enslavement"-- In-Slave-Mental. And all were in need of what he desperately sought and referred to as . . . True-Freedom: love for self, others, The Creator of Life, and peace of mind which comes from mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual enlightenment.
