As a young man, I was told by a professional counselor one out of 10 kids from the projects make it to become successful. As I continued my life, I kept playing what he said over and over, and my life took a downward spiral. I felt helpless and hopeless. I felt like my fate was sealed and I hit rock bottom. I felt isolated and alone. The people that I hung out with and those in my family that I thought I could count on to help me all turned their backs on me. Despite it all, I had a praying mother and brother that refused to give up on me . I was all out of options. I thought I could handle life on my own, but instead, life was handling me.
