Unveiling the Mask of the Pretender: the True Confessions of a Man Lamonte Faison

had the pleasure of meeting Lamonte Faison through one of the many social networks I
use to market my products and services. As many people do, he responded to my posting
of: "Life After The Down Low" and wanted to speak directly to me. Since he seemed to have
something of interest (answers), I agreed. During our brief discourse, Lamonte shared his
testimony and provided me with a copy of his memoir: "Unveiling The Mask Of the
Pretender." I immediately dove in. I wanted to know from a more objective perspective how
it was that a person who claimed to love the Lord and serve Him in ministry (e.g., praying for
people, laying hands to heal wounds, counseling and more) could masquerade their lives
to the point of addiction. Although Faison's sexual addiction wasn't toward men, his
experiences and masterful approach to deception clearly spoke to the man I was once
married.

Unveiling The Mask Of The Pretender is a quick read. It is filled with 96 pages of power
packed punches, exposing the inward struggle of a man tormented by his past and
engaging in behavior that was life threatening in more ways than one. Each short chapter
captures the essence of Faison's predatory and abusive behavior toward women in the
church, workplace and anywhere else they existed. He boldly shares how he used
measures that appealed to women (i.e., flowers, I love you, gifts, etc...) to lure them in and
ultimately get what he wanted - sex and control. He was hooked and he spared no expense
(emotional or otherwise) to conquer as many women that would avail themselves to him.
And his intention was to position himself in such a way that both his advances and sexual
desire were hard to resist. He was a pretender.

The thing I liked most about this memoir is that Faison makes no excuses for his behavior.
Yes - he shares about a marred childhood, abusive step-father and other life challenges
that may have played a role in his growing sexual addiction but he seems to take full
responsibility for his sociopathic, narcissistic behavior. Life according to Lamonte Faison
was dark and uncomfortable (to say the least). The battle continues uphill.

Unveiling The Mask Of The Pretender is an awesome tool for woman and men of all walks
of life. If nothing else, it will help empower them with the necessary equipment needed to
understand the strategies of a person who is completely perpetrating a fraud (whether male
or female).
