The world is changed. The twilight of ages has descended upon the world of Carin, and with its passing, a black sun has risen leaving only the faintest of fires burning. Since the explosive arrival of the Seven, the landscape of Carin has been ravaged by fire and steel as the armies of the south war with one another over the Heart of Fires. The feral race has already fallen due to the machinations of the Hammer and the Seven. Now, the Skyguard have begun their descent upon the unsuspecting nations. Alliances forged in darkness begin to seep out into the light, and secrets threaten to topple empires. With the wizards scattered to the four winds and the fallen Skyguard Galeerial on a quest of vengeance, salvation has never seemed farther away. High Queen Tendra Sumenel must deal with the very real possibility that humanity will soon join the ferals in extinction.
