Seance at the Lemp

- Dr. Joel Russell is a prominent psychiatrist with an established practice in Saint Louis, Missouri. Unable to find closure from the tragic and sudden death of his socialite wife, he has been floating through life in an emotional limbo for the past seven years. After selling his wife's family estate, he decides to use the proceeds to fund an experimental project--a social network of sorts. But this network differs from today's popular social networks in one crucial way. It is a means for the dead to communicate with the living across the internet.
- For this massive undertaking, he employs a systems expert to engineer the entire project, and he locates his laboratory in one of Saint Louis's most reportedly haunted buildings, the old Lemp Brewery warehouses on Cherokee Street. He calls the experiment Project Séance.
- At first, Dr. Russell regards the project as merely an expensive whim. But he soon finds that someone--he's not sure who--is using the system to send email messages to the living, claiming to be people who have died. Soon, he finds that the project has been commandeered by unknown entities of paranormal origins. He is unsure of who--or what--is in control, but the experiment has now taken a life of its own.
- Believing first hand that the project's very existence is contributing to the growing rate of suicide, Dr. Russell decides that he must take extraordinary means to end the project, before the project destroys any more innocent lives.
