After the 1994 general election which brought democracy to South Africa and swept Nelson Mandela?s ANC into power, South Africans were intoxicated by euphoria. The widely predicted civil war had not happened. The crushing burden of apartheid had gone. Black and white celebrated together. But the slate of hate had not been wiped clean. Under the sunny surface was a layer of white extremists utterly opposed to blacks in power. They were unseen but everyone suspected they were there: the Third Force, the Hidden Third. This is a story of what could have happened after the election.
