Calliope is the only priestess in Apollysis who can wear the fabled coronet of Apollo. Yet, she fears it may cause her death. It almost did the first time she wore it. When Spartans overrun Apollysis she is taken hostage by a man she both fears and is inexplicably drawn to. He presents her with an impossible choice-save the city and people she loves or save herself and allow her home to be sacked.



Commanding a force for the first time, Diokles is tasked to uncover a threat to Sparta brewing in Apollysis. He will stop at nothing to fulfil his mission, even when his honor is threatened by a priestess who stirs desires he has no business feeling. Desires which belong to his missing betrothed alone.



As the flame grows hotter between them, it threatens to burn through barriers and expose secret longings they both carry in their hearts.
