What began as an online experiment to gather data on how Christianity might better reach those outside the Church, unexpectedly became instead a unique opportunity to gauge the dissatisfaction Christians maintain concerning their fellow Christians and the Church when 87% of those contributing to this project identified themselves as Christians. Drawing upon this research and utilizing the methodology of a medical diagnostician, The New Normal takes a look the current condition of the church in the West as if the Church were a patient at the doctor?s office: investigating the history of the church to understand the development of the condition, identifying the ways in which the church has adapted to its declining condition, performing diagnostic tests to identify the root cause of the problem, reviewing the literature concerning the problem, and then proposing a treatment plan for the rehabilitation of our Church. Dr. Ingram then reveals the primary challenge standing between our current condition and the manifestation of the Church we are called to become? our buts? those reasons we often put forth to excuse our inaction. Ingram then explores the stories of the reluctant heroes of our faith and their buts as a way to remind us; God always uses the seemingly unqualified and unprepared to accomplish the unimaginable for God?s kingdom purposes.
