Their silent words enter my mind and I start losing my identity. Love becomes a blur of the past and I don't recognise the me in the mirror. The Chameleon's poison runs through my veins awakening new feelings and changing my points of view.

The Chameleon's Poison is a collection of poems blending existential themes with a romantic perspective of the world and life.

The book explores the quest for purpose in life, the pitfalls of fear in a world we barely comprehend, our multiple identities and the masks we wear, the need to belong and our imperative need of hope.

Iurgi Urrutia was born in Bayonne (France), speaks and writes in three languages (Basque, Spanish and English - this being his third), but not a word of French.

During his teenage years he wrote compulsively. Thankfully that material is either lost or buried six feet underground somewhere safe, where it will never be found.

Iurgi studied Media Arts, had a little stint at the BBC in London and even wrote and directed some short films. He worked as a teacher for a number of years that he describes as exhausting but unbelievably rewarding.

Currently residing in Mordialloc (Victoria), Iurgi works at a public library surrounded by and sharing his love of books. He spends his days reading and writing when he's not procrastinating binge watching TV series and movies.

The Chameleon's Poison is his first collection of poems in English.
