Cail has spent the last six months resting in the comfort of his own home following the grueling battle against Kordon's evil emperor, Kalil. The victory didn't come without a cost, though. Laney, Cail's best friend, was thrown into a state of unconsciousness when she was afflicted by a curse which was cast on her by Kalil's Servant and Cail's ancient ancestor, Tarvaris Ozean. Cail and his father, Cecil, have tried everything to wake Laney from her deep slumber, but to no avail. Meanwhile, a messenger runs to Elona from the west with grave news for Cail: The stronghold of Cestmir, also known as the Ivory City, has been taken hostage by a mysterious gang called The Blue Assassins. The word of Cestmir's suffering leaves Cail with an agonizing decision to make. He can either fly to Cestmir and confront The Blue Assassins, or he can stay in Elona, risking the lives of the Cestmirians, and nurse Laney back to health. He must choose between the life of one person versus the lives of an entire city.
