In 1980s Jamaica, Indian, Black Gal, Stamma, Blacka, Fatta Plucks, and Short Man live in a small countryside community and attend school together. At recess and after school, they banter about relationships, movies, and sociopolitical events. There is relative balance, a comedic give and take, until Mad Mavis's funeral promises to draw her grandniece, Antoinette, from town.
