This book will help you reflect on the purpose in life in its entirety, your time to be self-reliant, time to awaken yourself, and keep on moving. For me I came to the realization, that; any nurse- regardless of where they work-may need to assist with end-of-life care and communicate with a patient's family during this ordeal. As nurses, we are there for people in all situations and aspects of their life; in fact, we are sometimes referred to as "Angels on Earth." Being a nurse is a calling, the call to saving lives, giving hope and love. The knock of death appears, and sometimes our patients have no choice but to answer. Even in a patient's final stage of life, our presence is vital, as they trust and seek comfort in our aid. On the other hand, everyone someday will hear that same knock. Sometimes the battle is lost; sometimes it's won. Though dying is considered as losing the battle to illness or disease, a dignified death is having won the battle. My job as a nurse is the source of both good and bad in my life: exhaustion, peace, and closure. At the end of the day, however, I wouldn't have it any other way. If you only knew! The last day- your expiration date-would you love a little harder, care a little longer, dance a little softer? Would you forgive a little quicker, be kind a little simpler, and help others a little wilier? If only you knew! Would you change anything? Would you care for and embrace yourself even more?
