Hawai'i Poems

When I was a little girl growing up in landlocked Rhodesia, my father told me he was going to take me to "Paradise Island". He never made it to Hawai'i; but I did. In Hawai'i I found the 'sense of place' I had been searching for my entire adult life. Hawai'i Poems - Musings from The Big Island, is a collection of poems and photographs, inspired by the unique beauty of this special island in the center of the vast Pacific Ocean. Poems weave words in a magical way that evoke more than literal meaning. Poems are holistic and greater than the sum of their parts. These poems range from the joy in sharing a sunset dinner on a deserted beach, to kayaking with dolphins. From the emotional depths of love, and loss, to the processes of daily life. Within these pages you will find an opportunity to savor a few verses at a time, or spend long hours imagining; sidestepping into a sojourn on the Big Island. On the surface this is a collection of poems about places, but it's much more than that. It's a book about how we perceive our surroundings, and relate to them.
