In a world taken over by an alien species, a family flees the power that demands the sacrifice of their young girl. The small town where the Preston family lives have almost everything. Work, play, church, and a ritual where a young child walks the "aisle", a narrow path that opens up in the green wall that encloses the town on three sides. The entire town gathers to watch the child walk into the jungle that seems alive. The young child disappears, leaving behind only its painful scream. Bill and Jennifer flee in the middle of the night to save their daughter from being the next sacrifice. They head for a town they have heard of where the aliens have not yet taken hold, but their journey is not easy. They must fight for their lives everywhere they turn.
