In the midst of Hurricane Harvey, the Category 4 hurricane that made landfall in Texas on August 25, 2017, Dr. Pope was approached by her mortgage company, Nation Star Mortgage, about a Home Buyer Program designed to help homeowners impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Dr. Pope thought the program was giving her a lifeline but discovers almost nine months later her home was about to be foreclosed on by her "new" mortgage company Mr. Cooper. Throughout this battle to save her home and to keep from losing herself, Dr. Pope had to learn how to forgive others as well as herself as she moved rebounded from homelessness while building her business.
