Saugatuck Dawn
Martha Robach
Life in Saugatuck, Michigan, is hard for 16-year-old Serena DeBruyn. Her mother, an alcoholic, refuses to tell her who her father is. She hasn't seen her half-brother Charlie since her mother lost custody of him when Serena was 4 years old. Then she and her mother get a second chance. Charlie, now 19, comes to live with them. But Charlie has problems. Serena feels trapped between the fragility of her mother and her older brother. Big changes must occur to mend their broken relationships. Bleak Saugatuck winters fade in the light of summer dawns. Serena prays that that light will cut through the darkness of her family's struggles.
