Young men are being killed. Their personal identification removed. Homicide Detective Morgan Olsen, and her partner, Sam Parker, are having a difficult time identifying the victims. Their only clues are that they are young, male, and they all have on the same shoes. Shoes that do not yet exist. Complicating matters is that the hidden group inside the department that Morgan has taken to calling 'The Cabal' are trying to control her personal life including whom she dates and whom she is supposed to investigate. This hidden group will prove their power and demonstrate their reach into the city and county governments. They can get any story they want about her published, take candid photographs of her, and they can make bodies disappear. Morgan will live her life how she sees fit, and she will get to the truth of who is murdering these young men, 'Cabal' be damned. At the same time, Morgan wonders if fighting these powerful people is worth it. It is just not her way to give up.
