Some artists' work has recurring themes, character types, or visual motifs. David Lynch - writer, director, producer, painter, woodworker, coffee aficionado, tobacco enthusiast - is no exception, and in fact it can be said his work across all media is instantly recognizable owing to his particular brand of creativity. But what if the recurrence wasn't an aesthetic decision? What if, rather, it was a narrative one?
