Publisher Marketing: The events of the Yom Kippur War captured the attention of the entire world. It was the beginning of a new era of warfare. This was the military debut for the new technology of combat missiles. Various types were employed to include surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, air-to-surface and sea-to-sea. This new weaponry proved to be extremely effective and lethal. Man-portable antitank weapons played a tremendous part in shaping the outcome of events on the battlefield. During the course of this campaign, history's first naval missile battles were fought. As a result of Yom Kippur War, the entire science of military strategy and doctrine must be reevaluated in the light of lessons learned. This monograph is a critique of the formulation and consistency of Israel and Egypt's pursuit of their national goals through the application of military force. Analysis is made to determine whether victory on the modern battlefield guarantees the victor the object of war as defined by Carl von Clausewitz. It investigates whether the end state of these two countries were in agreement with their military strategy and capabilities. Additionally it accesses the degree of success achieved in the attainment of strategic political objectives through the application of all sources of national power and persuasion.
