Henry Laurens s'interesse notamment a l'etude, sur la longue duree, des relations entre Israel et le monde arabe. En 2004, il a recu le Prix Joseph du Theil de l'Academie des Sciences morales et politiques, ainsi que le Prix de l'amitie franco-arabe de l'Association de solidarite franco-arabe.
