The Book of Daniel: a Literal Translation & Commentary
Mark E Jeffries
He was just a youth when he was forcibly taken from his home in Jerusalem and brought to Babylon to be educated in the writings of the Chaldeans and understanding in all wisdom and knowledge. He was given favor by God and quickly rose to be one of the highest counselors in the land. He prophesied and witnessed the fall of Babylon and the rise of the Medes and Persians. He was not a typical prophet, as you see in the Scriptures. He was chosen to be a seer, like Samuel of old. In his visions he witnessed the rise of four empires, the coming of the Messiah and the consequential fall of Jerusalem. Many have incorrectly interpreted chapters 9 - 12 due to their preconceptions and error in their teachings. However, if one casts off those preconceptions and applies proper research, you will find a book that is incredibly intricate in detail in its walk through history.
