Bulldog Blues
David Olds
Set in Detroit, Bulldog Blues and is the tall tale of a talented, eccentric newspaper photographer named Dennis Wright whose favorite pastimes include shooting big news stories, harassing editors and cruising the strip joints along 8 Mile Road. He lives in a renovated mansion in a rundown neighborhood with his bulldog, Churchill and Mistress Sophia, his landlady and Motown's most popular dominatrix. Tired of his antics, his bosses at the Detroit Sun-Journal decide to rid themselves of their number one troublemaker. When they implement their plan, Denny finds himself up s**t creek without the proverbial paddle. When Churchill comes to the rescue (sort of) they inadvertently become the newest sweethearts of the art world. When Denny is asked to speak to a gaggle of photo students, he discovers that the 'power of photography' is more than just a catch phrase and that there is more to life than the status quo.
