Murder is committed in the rural community surrounding Lake Mille Lacs in Minnesota. Brian and his friend Mike, the Aitkin County Sheriff, are trying to figure out who murdered Harold Williams, a billionaire, on Mille Lacs Lake. Brian, befriending Harold's only daughter Jamie, uses the skills he learned in the U. S. Marine Corps to save her life from mercenaries who believe they have uncovered what Harold found. As the events unfold, they uncover a conspiracy within Harold's company that could ultimately destroy the business and get them killed.
