Kenna's husband, Steve has just been murdered. To complicate things, she was outside at the time, following a ghostly figure of an old woman down to the edge of their small pond. After hearing two gunshots, Kenna runs through the slippery mud back up to the house to find Steve lying in their bedroom, dead. There is no sign of an intruder. When the authorities arrive, Kenna has the embarrassing task of telling them she was wandering around outside in her nightgown after a heavy rain, chasing a ghost, and that she has no idea who or what killed her husband. In addition, she and Steve have been having marital problems and no one is believing her story about the apparition. Kenna is the prime suspect. Ghost of A Chance is a story that follows the investigation of Steve's murder in this small southern town, where most of it's citizens look at Kenna as a murderess, but a few individuals, like Kevin Carlisle, begin to believe her story. As the investigations progresses, as Kenna's trial unfolds, dark secrets are uncovered that eventually point to the startling truth about the identity of the murderer, as well as many of the townspeople, and the mysterious old woman who comes and goes, pointing her ghostly fingers at hidden secrets that have been buried for decades.
