Verse and Perverse G. G. Ainsworth
Verse and Perverse
G. G. Ainsworth
First of all let me say that I am not a writer or a poet by profession . . . . . I was an engineer for awhile and am now an industrial deep sea diver by trade. The rhymes or ballads that I have concocted over the past few years have been my way of telling a story about what actually happened to me, or of venting frustration or expressing a personal opinion on some matter that caught my attention at the time. Making rhyme is more a compulsion than a desire on my part, but I do find that it is a fair method of stress relief. My favorite real poets were men like Robert Service, Rudyard Kipling, Longfellow and Coleridge, and in my own way, I've tried to emulate their styles. I hope that some of the pieces in this book may stir your interest in some way or make you laugh or get angry, but I truly hope they don't commit the unpardonable sin of boring you.
