"Operation Sting Book II Army Career," continues with the life of the main character, David Williams, from my first novel "Operation Sting" which was based on a CIA sanctioned mission involving a military and civilian comprised A-Team in Southeast Asia in 1963, prior to the official start of the Vietnam War. David enrolls at the University of Illinois after he returns from the above mission in 1963 with the intent of serving the remainder of his enlistment in the U. S. Air Force (USAF) and then attending the University full time. Before his enlistment is finished an Army Colonel who works for the CIA approaches him and offers him the opportunity to join the Army and let them pay for his schooling. Upon graduation, he will be sent to Officers Candidate School (OCS) where he will receive a commission and be placed on a fast track for promotions. In return he will be obligated for another four years to the Army, and in turn the CIA. Williams has a hard sell to convince his wife that this is the right thing to do for their future, but in the end she agrees. His enlistment in the USAF is cut short so that he can begin classes at the University at the beginning of the fall term. He is separated from the Air Force on one day and sworn into the Army the following day. In addition to his normal engineering classes, the Army provides a private tutor who teaches him how to speak, read, and write German. She is also tasked with teaching him dining etiquette and other things regarding the German culture. The long-range plan for his Army career is to have him assigned to Embassy duty in Berlin to work for the CIA. Shortly after graduation he is sent to Ft. Sill Oklahoma for OCS, commissioned a 1st Lieutenant and assigned to a Special Forces Intelligence course at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Approximately half way through the school he is contacted by the Colonel who had talked him into joining the Army and he explains that there has been a change in plans and that he will not be going
