Join a group of young people in their rendezvous with destiny as they experience the turbulent times of the Great Depression and World War II while growing up in Wheeling, West Virginia. Their journey finds them in a variety of personal life situations while learning about their hometown and their nation. As they contend with conflicting struggles, their learning curve grows with the historical facets governing their generation. Their journey unveils the eras that preceded them and which ultimately had a powerful effect on them and our nation. They experienced the highs and lows and crossed many boundaries as they call upon "The Spirits of America" to tell their story. Their acquired knowledge led them to the realization of the many privileges and the greatness their nation offered and which were made possible by the sacrifices of so many of "The Spirits of America" before them.
