BITTERSWEET VICTORY, FACT OR FICTION?

Evelyn and Michel?s story begins in Istanbul during the peaceful years of 1920s, but a lovers? quarrel sends Evelyn to work in Bucharest. By the time she is ready to return, W. W. II erupts and she is stuck in Bucharest. She marries the young Russian Jew who had pursued her relentlessly since her arrival, but happiness is not for long as tragedy strikes when Nazi officers abduct her husband and he disappears. Left alone through the war years she struggles to survive, striving to make a meager living and raise her daughter. After the war, she manages to immigrate to Israel where her daughter thrives among the young in the new atmosphere of freedom and self-reliance. Evelyn, however, does not adjust to the Israeli lifestyle and longing for her home in Istanbul, she decides to return, after an absence of over twenty years. Here she meets Michel again and love is rekindled, but Evelyn cannot rest until she has avenged her departed husband. She conceives an elaborate scheme on her husband?s disappearance, convincing the German authorities of her entitlement to compensation. She ultimately succeeds, but at a price!

Reading BITTERSWEET VICTORY one partakes in the suspense, hardships and the passionate love and devotion of Evelyn and Michel.
