About The AuthorDana C. CutterBorn Mt Auburn Hospital Boston, Ma on January 22, 1939. At three years old, I arrived in Hopedale, MA. Victoria and Charles Hoglund became my foster parents. I believe that at the time I was the first State Kid (Mass State Ward) to graduate from Hopedale High School class of 58, as President. Hopedale was a place where children could run free. A scholarship grant was for five years of post high school training and college. Only the principle of the loan had to be paid back to the Hopedale Foundation. Hopedale was a place for kids to grow up with good schools, a lake, parks, a library and activities for kids and adults. There was also great affordable housing for all who lived there. The people of Hopedale supported their children, had many story tellers who read to children and shared their own stories. It was one of America's first planned communities. I went to Worcester Junior AA, American International College, and did graduate work at Harvard and other academic institutions. I moved to Chicopee, MA and married Dorothy M. Gawlik in 1964. We have three children Denise Marie, Dana Charles, Douglas Francis, and one adopted son Richard Clark. I taught School in Chicopee for 36 years. Now retired, served two terms on Chicopee School Committee. My wife & I had a catering business over the years. Children have been our lives so we hope that they enjoy this book. As have our children and grandchildren; Hannah, Grace, Camila, Simon, Luke and Jacob. A special thanks to my friend, Tom Lacaprucia, who brought this book to life with his illustrations.
