"It Is What It Is" is an urban tale of a girl who struggles to become a productive and secure woman. When this young girl becomes an adult she is forced to look at the crossroads of her life. She doesn't know which way to turn since she has carried so much emotional and destructive baggage with her from her past. This baggage doesn't allow her to clearly see her future as clearly as she would like. When she tries to let go of the pain from her past (25 years after the fact) she thinks maybe it's too late. She wants to live long enough to learn the lesson that is needed to get over her pain but isn't sure if she has the time to apply that lesson to her life. The book mainly centers on Sasha Miller as she navigates aspects of her personal and professional experiences. The tale touches upon diverse challenges one tends to fine in a sometimes, uncertain urban society, paying special attention to the relative complexities of human interaction. In numerous twists and turns, the tale also highlights notions of identity, loyalty and belief in various forms.
